Challenge
Agentic AI systems go beyond assisting users to autonomously taking actions on their behalf. This fundamental shift raises questions regarding user willingness to delegate decision making to AI systems and the objective effectiveness of delegation outcomes for the user.
Approach
In the current project, we examine how AI system framing — explicitly informing users how insurance product recommendations are generated by an autonomous AI system — influences their willingness to delegate purchase decision for an insurance product to an AI system.
Expected Results
We aim to discern which AI system framings cause users to delegate their purchase decision to the system. Additionally, we will explore potential dark sides of AI system framing, for example, whether certain framings cause users to delegate their purchase decisions, even when the product suggested by the AI system is objectively worse (i.e., in terms of price and quality trade off) than other options available.
