Neurofeedback for Relaxation

Challenge

High cognitive load, stress, and lack of focus are growing concerns in modern workplaces and daily life. While mindfulness and relaxation techniques support mental resilience, their effectiveness varies, and accessibility remains challenging. Innovative solutions are needed to make these practices more personalised and widely available. Neurofeedback, an evidence-based method that provides real-time insights into brain activity, offers a promising approach to improving self-regulation. But how can we best integrate neurofeedback into digital health solutions to enhance focus, relaxation, and emotional balance in everyday life? To bring neurofeedback closer to society, we will begin testing it during the Mobiliar exhibition, “Ctrl+Alt+Relax,” engaging visitors in the interactive experience.

Approach

This project explores:

  • How can neurofeedback be integrated into daily life for continuous mental training?
  • How can neurofeedback seamlessly integrate into virtual reality (VR) to enhance focus and relaxation?
  • How can machine learning personalise neurofeedback based on individual brain activity patterns?

The project utilises wireless EEG neurofeedback and integrates it with VR and adaptive learning techniques to optimise cognitive training.

Expected Results

  • Personalised neurofeedback training to improve focus and relaxation.
  • Scientific insights into the effects of different feedback modalities on self-regulation.
  • A validated VR neurofeedback protocol for digital stress and focus management.
